Today I’m sharing breakfast.  I woke up 30 minutes later then I wanted to, so eating at my desk was a necessity.  I scooped up my quick oats mixture, grabbed my banana that was on the verge of death and made it to work with time to spare.

“It tastes better then it looks.”

For my quick oats, I start with plain oats and add whatever I can find for substance.  It usually looks something like this…

  • 3/4 cup oats
  • 1 Tbsp. Brown Sugar (give or take)
  • 1 small handful of dried cranberries (any type of dried fruit, nuts or fresh fruit will suffice)
  • Enough Vanilla Almond Milk to get everything moving

“Heat and enjoy!”

Of course this breakfast lasted about an hour before I was munching for more.  So, snack time was welcomed early.


“Sweet and salty is always a winner.”

Earlier this week I spent my first Sunday in the nursery at church.  Today was their fall kick-off, so I had less then 2 days to get my application done.


 Of course I procrastinated and underestimated the amount of time this would take me.

“I may or may not have been finishing the tough questions in the parking lot.”

I got it in though and although there is a few more steps, I’ll be spending my odd month Sundays with the infants for the fall.  The fall kick-off was a HUGE event and if I wasn’t talking to so many people throughout the entire event…

“Everyone wants dibs on the new girl!”

…I may have snapped a picture or two.  Dinner was Qdoba sponsored rice and beans with chicken and a sweet chocolate chip cookie for dessert.

The event was for volunteers from infant through grade school.  Once we split into our assigned groups, I got a little more then I bargained for and I met a friend who just completed the Athleta Iron Girl in Columbia this past Sunday.  I’ve been hearing about this race for the past month, but didn’t have time to train.  She was nothing but encouraging about helping me prepare for upcoming triathlons and/or dualthons in the area.

“Say what now?”

Before I knew it, we traded numbers and are going to talk about upcoming races.

“Can’t we just be running buddies first?”

Looks like my goals are already shaping up for 2013!
