New Words

16 Aug

Good evening,

Busy work day ended with a killer workout.  I haven’t been on my game this week due to a back issue on Monday and two dentist appointments.  So, this workout that I pinned was a perfect “get out of this funk” workout.

This workout left me a sweaty mess by the end of the first circuit.  I’m really not a fan of elliptical workouts because I feel so constricted to the machine, but they work parts of my legs I just can’t get in other exercises and it’s a great warm up!

Dinner was quick and simple.  I threw together some mushroom tomato sauce with grated fresh garlic with some leftover broccoli and diced turkey from dinner a couple nights ago.  I topped it off with some awesome fresh shredded cheese and it was a winner.

Yum, yum Parmesan!

I ended the meal with some cut up watermelon to satisfy my sweet tooth.

New Words

As I was riding to work this morning, the conversation on the radio turned to the new dictionary words that will now be found in the new Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary.  I snickered at a few, yawned at others, but I was actually surprised by some.  Some new words include:

  • Systemic Risk
  • Underwater (related to mortgage loans)
  • Tipping Point
  • Toxic (related to selling assets)
  • Shovel-Ready
  • Game-Changer (I like this one!)
  • Bucket List (Another favorite)
  • Energy Drink
  • Gassed
  • Aha Moment (Oh, Oprah)
  • F-Bomb
  • Man Cave
  • Earworm

A colorful group of words if I do say so myself.  The only one I’m not sure of is “F-Bomb” and the one my husband will be excited about it “Man Cave”.  “Aha Moment” seems a little out there too.  I thought that was more of a phrase.  Shows how much I have opened a dictionary these days! 😛

Question of the Evening

What words were you surprised to see added to the dictionary?  When is the last time you actually opened a dictionary?
